This is an After Effects CS4 project with pre-rendered 3D. The 3D is rendered on layers and there is a zDepth pass as well. I hope you find it useful :)

No plug-ins required
Very fast render – about 13 minutes on Core 2 Quad

Bonus: 4096×4096 image of the splash ( you can use it for billboard, magazine, etc. )
There are 3D Cameras imported so you can place your AE objects in 3D space and they will look naturally around the pre-rendered elements.
